August 2007
The August issue has great ideas for summer garments as well as projects to think about for the fall. There are warm weather tops as well as a delicate cotton lace shawl. Felting is still fun and popular and we have two bags – one from Nicky Epstein! Cables are never out of fashion, and we have several cabled sweaters for you!
I had a chance to meet Vickie Howell as she launched her new collection for Southwest Trading Co at the TNNA Show this winter. Vickie has been very busy, not only with hosting her popular cable TV program Knitty Gritty, but promoting Craft, Rock and Love, three all natural fibers from Southwest Trading. Vickie Howell is our Designer in the Spotlight this month.
Can we talk? I really loathe the finishing process. When my Mother reads this, she will laugh because I will admit my finishing process is to take the worked pieces of my project to her. And I have news for her – if she lived in another state – I would ship them to her! Margaret Radcliffe’s workshop this month, How to Plan Ahead for PerfectFinishing, gives us her tips on how to make the finishing of your garment easier, faster and much more pleasant. Just a little planning ahead will make a world of difference.
Until next time, enjoy your knitting!
