*11 (12, 13, 15), 50 gm/100 yd balls of Plymouth Indiecita Alpaca Worsted in Burgundy #2020
*One pair each straight knitting
needles in sizes 3 and 4 U.S. OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
*One each circular knitting needles 16 in. and 24 in. long in smaller size
*Stitch holders
*8, 3⁄8 in. buttons (#93266 Meredith Antique Gold from JHB International)

GAUGE
20 sts and 28 rows = 4 in. with Plymouth INDIECITA ALPACA WORSTED and larger ndls in pat st.

STITCH ABBREVIATION
RC = Right Cross: Knit second st on LH ndl, knit first st, sl both sts off ndl.

PATTERN STITCH
3x3 rib (multiple of 6 sts plus 3):
Row 1 (RS): K 3, * p 3, k 3; rep from * across.
Row 2: P 3, *k 3, p 3; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 & 2 for 3x3 rib.

BACK: With smaller straight ndls, CO 75 (81, 93, 99) sts. Work even in 3x3 rib for 2 in., inc 11 (15, 13, 17) sts on last WSR – 86 (96, 106, 116) sts. Change to larger ndls. Est pat: Row 1 (RS): K 5 (1, 6, 2) *[RC] twice, k 6, RC, k 6; rep from * 3 (4, 4, 5) times, [RC] twice, k 5 (1, 6, 2). Row 2: P. Rep Rows 1 & 2 until Back meas 12 (12, 13, 13-1/2) in. from beg, ending with a WSR. Shape armholes: BO 7 (9, 11, 12) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end EOR 3 (4, 4, 6) times – 66 (70, 76, 80) sts. Work even in est pat until armholes meas
7-1/2 (8, 8-1/2, 9) in., ending with a WSR. Shape neck/shoulders: Sl center 26 (28, 32, 32) sts on a holder. Working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn, dec 1 st at neck edge every row 3 times; AT THE SAME TIME, BO at each shoulder edge at beg of EOR: 6 (6, 6, 7) sts twice, then 5 (6, 7, 7) sts once.

FRONT: Work as for Back until armholes meas 5 (5-1/2, 5-1/2, 6) in., ending with a WSR. Shape neck: Sl center 24 (26, 30, 30) sts on a holder. Working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn, dec 1 st at each neck edge EOR 4 times. Work even until armholes meas same as Back. Shape shoulders same as Back.

SLEEVES: With smaller straight ndls, CO 39 (39, 45, 45) sts. Work even in 3x3 rib for 2-1/2 in., inc 7 (7, 11, 11) sts evenly on last WSR – 46 (46, 56, 56) sts. Change to larger ndls. Est pat: Row 1 (RS): K 3 (3, 8, 8), *[RC] twice, k 6, RC, k 6, rep from * once, [RC] twice, k 3 (3, 8, 8). Row 2: P. Rep Rows 1 & 2; AT THE SAME TIME, inc 1 st each end every 6th row 15 (17, 15, 17) times, working added sts into pat – 76 (80, 86, 90) sts. Work even until Sleeve meas 17-1/2 (18, 18, 18-1/2) in., ending with a WSR. Shape cap: BO 7 (9, 11, 12) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end EOR 13 (12, 12, 12) times, then every 4th row 2 (3, 4, 5) times – 32 sts. BO 3 (3, 2, 4) sts at beg of next 4 (4, 2, 4) rows, then 4 (4, 3, 0) sts at beg of next 2 (2, 4, 0) rows. FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams. Collar: With RS facing and shorter
circular ndl, beg at left shoulder seam, PU and k 17 (18, 20, 20) sts along left neck edge, k 24 (26, 30, 30) sts of Front neck, PU and k 23 (24, 26, 26) sts along right neck edge, k 26 (28, 32, 32) sts of Back neck, PU and k 6 sts along rem back neck to left shoulder – 96 (102, 114, 114) sts. Place marker, turn. Inside of sweater should face to outside. Rnd 1: K. Rnd 2: K 1, *[RC] twice; k 2; rep from * around, ending with k 1. Rep Rnds 1 & 2 until collar meas 2 in., ending with Rnd 1. Remove marker; work in rows from this point, changing to longer circular ndl when necessary. Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, *[RC] twice, k 1, M1, k 1; rep from * ending with k 1. Row 2: Sl 1, p to end of row. Row 3: Sl 1, *[RC] twice, k 3; rep from * ending with k 1. Rep Rows 2 & 3 until collar meas 4 in. above split, ending with a RSR. Next row (WS): Sl 1, p 5, M1, *p 7, M1; rep from * across, ending with p 7. Row 2: Sl 1, *[RC] twice, k 4; rep from * ending with k 1. Row 3: Sl 1, p to end of row. Rep last 2 rows 4 more times. Knit 3 rows. BO loosely.
