NOTES
Poncho is worked in-the-rnd beginning at the neck and working down toward the hem. As the number of stitches gets crowded on the ndls, it may become necessary to change to longer circulars or put half of the stitches on each of two circular ndls.
Since the increases are worked evenly around the poncho, there is no front, back or sides — it can be slipped on quickly and worn any direction.
PONCHO:
Beg at neck, with size 10 circular ndl, CO 60 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Working in-the-rnd, place marker at beg of rnd. P 1 rnd. K 1 rnd. P 1 rnd. K 2 rnds. Change to size 11 ndl. Inc eyelet rnd: (K 2, yo) around — 90 sts. K 7 rnds. Decorative eyelet rnd: (K 1, k2tog, yo) around. Note: The number of sts rem the same. K 7 rnds. Work inc rnd — 135 sts. K 7 rnds. Work decorative eyelet rnd. Rep these 8 rows 4 more times. Note: There are now 8 eyelet rnds and 135 sts. K 6 more rnds. Do not BO.
PICOT EDGING:
Use a long piece of cotton yarn and thread it through all sts. Remove knitting ndls. Fold up hem of Poncho along last row of eyelets. Using a darning ndl, loosely whip st one live thread from the cotton thread to inside of Poncho along lower edge of next set of eyelets.
Note: This hem should be stretchy and invisible. Be careful to sew through the center of every st so that they are finished and anchored. Weave in all ends. Remove cotton yarn.
