KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
Finished Bust: 35 (39, 43, 47) in.
Back Length: 19-1/2 (20, 21, 21-1/2) in.

MATERIALS
6 (7, 8), 2-1/2 oz/75 yd skeins of Caron International Cozi (79% acrylic, 21% polyester) in Toasted Almond #0003 (MC)
1, 2-1/2 oz/75 yd skein in Sandstone #0001 (CC)
One pair each knitting needles in sizes 7 and 10-1/2 U.S.
OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Tapestry needle
Crochet hook in size J/10 U.S.
Double-pointed needles for I-cord
GAUGE
10 sts and 20 rows = 4 in. with Caron International COZI in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

POCKETS: Using larger ndls and MC, CO 20 sts. Beg St st; work even until piece meas 6 in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Looped Trim: Change to smaller ndls and join a strand of CC; work 1 row Looped Fringe, BO as you go.

BACK: Using smaller ndls and 1 strand each of MC and CC, CO 44 (49, 54, 59) sts. Work 1 row Looped Fringe; cut CC. Change to larger ndls and St st. Using MC only, work even until piece meas 11 (11, 12, 12) in. from the beg, ending with a WSR. Shape armholes: BO 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows — 38 (43, 46, 51) sts. Dec 1 st each side EOR 1 (2, 3, 4) times — 36 (39, 40, 43) sts. Work even until armholes meas 71/2 (8, 8, 8-1/2) in., ending with a WSR. Shape shoulders/neck: BO 3 (4, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 4 (2, 2, 4) rows, 3 sts at beg of next 2 (4, 4, 2) rows . BO rem 18 (19, 20, 21) sts.

LEFT FRONT: Using smaller ndls and 1 strand each of MC and CC, CO 22 (24, 26, 28) sts. Work as for Back until armhole meas 41/2 (5, 5, 5-1/2) in., ending with a RSR — 18 (19, 19, 20) sts. Shape neck: BO at neck edge at beg of EOR: 3 sts twice, 2 sts once, then dec 1 st once — 9 (10, 10, 11) sts. Work even until armhole meas same as Back to shoulder shaping, ending with a WSR. Shape shoulders: Same as for Back. 

RIGHT FRONT: Work as for Left Front, rev all shaping.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder and side seams. Sew pockets centered on Fronts, aligning lower edge approx 1 in. from looped edge. 

Looped Fringe Trim: With RS facing, using smaller ndls and 1 strand each of MC and CC, beg at lower right Front, pick up and k sts evenly along center Fronts and around neck shaping; AT SAME TIME as picking up sts, work Looped Fringe, binding off as you go. Using tapestry ndl, weave in ends.

Using smaller ndls and 1 strand each of MC and CC, CO 26 sts. Work 1 row Looped Fringe; cut CC. Change to larger ndles and St st. Using MC only, work even until piece meas 16 in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Looped Fringe Trim: Change to smaller ndls and join a strand of CC; work 1 row Looped Fringe, binding off as you go.

ASSEMBLY: Fold purse in half, with WS’s facing and Looped Fringe edges aligned. Sew side seams.

HANDLE: Using dpn and CC, CO 4 sts. Work I-cord until piece meas approx 36 in.from beg. BO all sts. Sew one end of strap to each side of purse, under the Looped Fringe, at side seams

PATTERN STITCH

Looped Fringe Stitch: Note: Use smaller ndls and 1 strand each MC and CC.
For CO Edge (multiple of 1 st + 2 edge sts; 1-row rep)
Row 1 (RS): K 1 (edge st), *work as foll:
Fringe Stitch Loop: K into front of next st, yf bet the ndls, loop yarn around your thumb, yb, k into back of same st, being careful not to pull out fringe loop; slip both newly-created sts to LH ndl, k2tog – 1 Fringe St Loop made; rep from * across to last st, k 1 (edge st).
For All Other Edges:
Pick up and k per instructions [for Pocket trim, use Pocket sts]; k 1 (edge st), *work Fringe St Loop as for CO edge, pass first st on RH ndl over second st [the st rem after k2tog of Fringe St Loop] to BO 1 st; rep from * across to last st, k 1 (edge st), BO last st and fasten off.  
I-Cord: Using dpn, CO 4 sts; do NOT turn. *Slide sts to opp end of ndl and k them, pulling yarn firmly from behind sts; rep from * to desired length. After a few rows, a tiny tube will begin to form; give it a gentle tug now and then as you work to adjust any loose sts. BO all sts.
