Lapel T-Top

This lovely aqua rib t-top in lavender is worked in Aurora/Ornaghi Filati Giglio.

To fit Misses’ sizes Petite (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large). Directions are for smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses. If only one figure is given, it applies to all sizes.

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

  • Finished Bust: 36 (40, 44, 48, 52, 56) in.
  • Back Length: 21 (22, 23, 24, 24 1/2, 26) in.

MATERIALS

  • 8 (9, 10, 11, 13, 14), 50 gm/87 yd balls of Aurora/Ornaghi Filati Giglio in Aqua (MC)
  • 1 (1, 1, 1,2, 2), 50 gm/87 yd balls in Lavender (CC)
  • Circular knitting needles 16 and 24 or 30 in. long in size 7 U.S. OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
  • Crochet hook size G/6 U.S.
  • Stitch markers
  • Stitch holder




GAUGE

18 sts = 4 in. with Aurora/Ornaghi Filati GIGLIO in 2×2 ribbing, slightly stretched.

NOTES

Body is knit , then divided at the armholes and neck and knit back and forth on circular needle. Sleeves are picked up and knit in short rows down from the shoulders.

CROCHET ABBREVIATION sc = single crochet: Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch, yarn over, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook (= 1 sc).

PATTERN STITCH

2×2 ribbing worked in-the-round (multiple of 4):
All rnds: *K 2, p 2; rep from * around. 2×2 ribbing worked back and forth on circular ndl (multiple of 4):
RSRs: K 1, *p 2, k 2; rep from * across, ending with k 1 instead of k 2.
WSRs: P 1, *k 2, p 2; rep from * across, ending with p 1 instead of p 2.

BODY

top bodyUsing CC and longer ndl, CO 160 (184, 200, 216, 232, 256) sts. Join making sure not to twist sts. Work 1
rnd of 2×2 ribbing.
Change to MC. Work around in 2×2 ribbing until Body meas 12 1/2 (13, 13 1/2, 14, 14 1/2, 15) in. from beg. Divide for sleeve openings & neck: Work back and forth is est 2×2 ribbing across 80 (92, 100, 108, 116, 128) sts for back; place rem 80 (92, 100, 108, 116, 128) sts on holder for front.

Back: Work back and forth evenly on back sts only until piece meas 21 (22, 23, 24, 24 1/2, 26) in. Change to CC. Work one row. BO with CC.

Front: Place front sts on ndl as foll: Work back and forth in est 2×2 ribbing across 40 (46, 50, 54, 58, 64) sts; join 2nd ball of MC and work across rem 40 (46, 50, 54, 58, 64) sts. Work both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn, maintaining ribbing pat with no shaping until fronts meas same as back. Change to CC. Work one row. BO with CC on each side.

Sleeves: Using MC and shorter ndl, beg at underarm PU 76 (84, 84, 88, 92, 100) sts around armhole. Place marker at shoulder and at underarm. Work around in 2×2 ribbing for 2 rnds. Beg short rows: Work in est 2×2 ribbing to shoulder marker, cont in ribbing for 6 sts beyond marker. Turn work and work back to shoulder marker, then cont another 6 sts. Turn work and work 6 sts beyond previous turn. Cont in ribbing, working each row 6 sts longer than the previous row. When all sts have been used return to knitting in-the-round in est 2×2 ribbing for 2 rnds. Change to CC. Work one rnd. BO with CC.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams 5 3/4(6 1/2, 7 1/4, 8, 9, 9 3/4) in. from each side edge. Leave center open.
Crochet neck edging: With RS facing and CC, work 1 row sc around entire neck edge. Fold front edges down, creasing a line from point of dividing to end of shoulder seam. Press lightly with iron.
