Enhanced Diamonds
Diane Zangl’s pullover, worked in Knit One, Crochet Too Truffles, features a large diamond pattern along the left side with alternating plain and ribbed columns enhanced with embroidery.

To fit Misses’ sizes Small (Medium, Large, X — Large). Directions are for smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses. If only one figure is given, it applies to all sizes.

MATERIALS
- 13(15, 16, 18), 50 gm/73 yd balls of Knit One, Crochet Too Truffles (100% rayon) in Ivory #146
- 2 packages each of Knit One, Crochet Too Adornaments in Autumn #40010 and Vegetation #30030
- One pair straight knitting needles in size 5 U.S. OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- Circular knitting needle 24 in. long in size 5 U.S.

GAUGE
- 20 sts and 30 rows = 4 in. with Knit One, Crochet Too TRUFFLES in Ribbed Columns pat.
- 18-st Diamond Panel = 3 1/2 in.

PATTERN STITCH
Ribbed Columns (multiple of 10 sts + 5):
- Row 1 (WS): P 1 tbl, [k 3, p 1 tbl, k 1, p 3, k 1, p 1 tbl] 5 times, k 3, p 1 tbl.
- Row 2: K 1 tbl, p 3, [k 1 tbl, p 1, k 3, p 1, k 1 tbl, p 3] 5 times, k 1 tbl.
Rep Rows 1 & 2 for Ribbed Columns pat.
NOTE
Because each Adornaments assortment may vary, your garment will be unique from any other. You can also use exotic yarns from your stash, rayon or silk floss or metallic threads. Add as much or as little embroidery as you desire. On the pictured garment, duplicate, lazy daisy and running stitches are used in the large diamond motifs and slanted long stitches are used on the wide ribs.
INSTRUCTIONS
BACK
With straight ndls, CO 94 (100, 112, 120) sts.
Est pat (WS): P 11 (14, 20, 24), place marker (pm), work Row 1 of Chart over 18 sts, pm, (k 3, p 1 tbl, k 1, p 3, k 1, p 1 tbl) 5 times, k 3, p 1 tbl, pm, p 11 (14, 20, 24). Keeping end sts in St st and rem sts in est pats, work even until Back meas 13 (14, 14, 141/2) in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Shape armholes: BO 8 (10, 14, 15) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end EOR 3 (3, 4, 5) times – 72 (74, 76, 80) sts. Work even until armholes meas 7 (71/2, 8, 8 1/2) in., ending with a WSR.
Shape neck: Place center 26 (28, 28, 30) sts on holder. Working both sides of neck with separate balls of yarn, dec 1 st each neck edge EOR 3 times – 20 (20, 21, 22) sts rem each side. Work even until armhole meas 8 [8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2) in. BO all sts.
FRONT
With straight ndls, CO 94 (100, 112, 120) sts.
Est pat (WS): P 11 (14, 20, 24), pm, (p 1 tbl, k 3, p 1 tbl, k 1, p 3, k 1) 5 times, p 1 tbl, k 3, pm, work Row 1 of Chart over next 18 sts, pm, p 11 (14, 20, 24). Keeping end sts in St st and rem sts in est pats, work same as Back until armholes meas 3 (3 1/2, 4, 41/2) in., ending with a WSR and then shaping neck same as Back. Work even until armholes meas same as Back. BO all sts.
SLEEVES
With straight ndls, CO 61 (65, 71, 75) sts.
Est pat (WS): P 3 (0, 3, 0), pm, work Ribbed Columns pat over next 55 (65, 65, 75) sts, pm, p 3 (0, 3, 0). Keeping sts bet markers in est pat and rem sts in St st, inc 1 st each end every 6 (6, 8, 8) rows 4 times working added sts in St st – 69 (73, 79, 83) sts. Work even until Sleeve meas 4 (4, 5, 5) in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Shape cap: BO 8 (10, 14, 15) at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end EOR 3 times -47 (47, 45, 47) sts. Work even until cap meas 5 1/2 (5 3/4, 6, 6 1/2) in., ending with a WAR. BO 5 sts at beg of next 4 (4, 4, 6) rows, then 6 (6, 4, 0) sts at beg of foll 2 rows. BO rem 15 (15, 17, 17) sts.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Triangular Edging: Join yarn at Back neck. With RS facing and circular ndl, k across sts on Back neck holder dec 5 (4, 4, 3) sts evenly, PU and k 36 sts along right edge of neck, k across sts on Front neck holder dec 5 (4, 4, 3) sts evenly, PU and k 36 sts along left edge of neck – 114 (120, 120, 126) sts. Cable CO 6 sts to LH ndl.
- Row 1 (RS): K 5, ssk, sl 1 purlwise wyib, turn.
- Row 2: P2tog tbl, p 3, p2tog tbl.
- Row 3: Ssk, k 2, ssk, sl 1 purlwise wyib, turn.
- Row 4: P2tog tbl, p 1, p2tog tbl.
- Row 5: Ssk) twice, sl 1 purlwise wyif, turn.
- Row 6: P2tog tbl, p 1, CO 4. Rep from * until all PU sts have been worked. Sew Sleeves into armholes. Sew side and Sleeve seams.
Bottom Edging: With RS facing and circular ndl, PU 180 (198, 222, 240) sts along CO edge of body. Work Triangular Edging around lower edge.
Sleeve edging: With RS facing, PU 60 (60, 66, 72) sts along CO edge of body. Work Triangular Edging around lower Sleeve edge.
Embroider decorative sts (see Note) onto Sweater as pictured or as desired.
