Stranded tank top

This fun tank top and matching purse is worked with Aurora/Ornaghi Filati Bazar yarn in a stranded stitch pattern.

  • Back Length: 21 1/2 (21,211/2, 22, 22 1/2, 23) in.

PATTERN STITCH
Stranded Stitch (multiple of 4 sts + 4):
Row 1 (RS): K 2, * sl 2 with yarn in front, k 2; rep from * across, ending with k 2.
Row 2 & all WSRs: P.
Row 3: K 2, *k 2, sl 2 with yarn in front;
rep from * across, ending with k 2. Rep Rows 1-4 for Stranded St pat.

A: TANK TOP

tank top back and frontBACK: CO 68 (76, 84, 92, 100, 108) sts. Work in Stranded St for 13 in., ending with a WSR.
Shape arm-holes: BO 4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each edge every RSR 3 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) times — 54 (58, 62, 66, 70, 74) sts.
Cont even until armholes meas 4 (41 1/4, 41/2, 4 3/4, 5, 5 1/4) in.
Shape neck: Next row: Work across 14 (15, 16, 17, 18, 20) sts, join 2nd ball of yarn and BO center 26 (28, 30, 32, 34, 34) sts, work across rem sts. Work both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn until armholes meas 7У2 (8, 8У2, 9, 9У2, 10) in.
Shape shoulders: BO at each shoulder edge 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts once, 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) sts once, then 5 (5, 6, 6, 6, 7) sts once in short rows as foll: Working from neck edge, work to last 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts before shoulder edge, turn and work back. Next short row is turned 9(10, 10, 11, 12, 13) sts before shoulder edge. Finally all sts are bound off.

FRONT: Work same as Back.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder and side seams.
Crochet edging
: With RS fac­ing, work 1 row sc around armholes, lower edge and neck edge (at inside corners of square neck skip the corner st to keep the neck square).

B: PURSE

BODY: CO 32 sts. Work in Stranded St for 13 in. BO all sts.
l-cord: CO 4 sts. Work l-cord for 30 in.

FINISHING: Block knitted rectangle. Cut a piece of 100% cotton fabric to the same size. Cut Therm O Web HeatnBond UltraHold to the same size as the fabric. Iron webbing onto fabric foll instructions. Peel off paper and iron onto WS of knitted rectangle. Fold one edge up 5 in., crease, fold top down 3 in., crease. Sew side seams and attach a button closure. Tack l-cord to sides.
