Zia Sweater

This colorful wave pattern pullover is designed in Fiesta Yarn`s Zia in the Amazon colorway.

MATERIALS

Zia Sweater

  • 6 (7, 8), 110 yd skeins of Fiesta Yarns Zia in Amazon (or colorway of choice)
  • One pair knitting needles in size 10 U.S. OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
  • Crochet hook in size G/6 U.S.
  • Stitch holders

GAUGE

  • 16 sts and 18 rows = 4 in. with Fiesta Yarns ZIA in Wave Pat.
  • TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

CROCHET ABBREVIATION

sc = single crochet: Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch, yarn over, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook (= 1 sc).

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

3-ndl BO = 3-needle bind off: Place sts from both shoulder holders each onto ndls, point parallel and facing the same direction. Holding these with RS tog, and with a third same size ndl, (k 1 st from front ndl and 1 st from back ndl tog) twice, *pass first st over 2nd to BO, k next st on both ndls tog; rep from * until 1 st rem. Fasten off.

PATTERN STITCH

Wave Pattern (multiple of 13 sts + 2):
Row 1: K 1, *k2tog, k 4, yo, k 1, yo, k 4, sl 1, k 1, psso; rep from * across, end k 1.
Row 2: Purl.
Rep Rows 1 & 2 for Wave pat.

BACK

front and back diagramCO 67 (80, 93) sts. Knit one row. Work in Wave pat until piece meas 10 (11, 12) in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Shape armholes: Maintaining pat, BO 6 (7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 55 (66, 77) sts. Work even until armholes meas 8 (9, 9 1/2) in., ending with a WSR.

Shape shoulders: Next row: Work 16(18, 21) sts and place on holder,BO center 23 (30, 35) sts, place rem 16 (18, 21) sts on a separate holder.

FRONT

CO 67 (80, 93) sts. Work same as Back until armholes meas 4 (5, 5 1/2) in., ending with a WSR -55 (66, 77) sts.
Shape neck: Next row: Maintaining pat, work 24 (28, 32) sts, join another ball of yarn and BO center 7(10, 13) sts, finish row. Working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn, BO at each neck edge at beg of EOR: 3 (4, 4) sts once, 2 (3, 3) sts once, 1 (1,2) sts once and 1 st twice. Work until piece meas same as Back to shoulders. Place rem 16 (18, 21) sts on each shoulder on separate holders.

SLEEVES

sleeve diagram pulloverCO 41 sts. Knit one row. Work in Wave pat, inc 1 st each side every 5th row 13 (16, 18) times working incs into pat as soon as there are enough sts to do so – 67 (73, 77) sts. Work even until Sleeve meas 17 1/2 (18 1/2, 19 1/2) in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Shape cap: BO 6 (7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO rem sts.

FINISHING

Join Front and Back shoulders with 3-ndl BO. Sew in Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams.
Neck edging: With RS facing, work 1 row sc, then 1 row reverse sc (working from left to right) around neck.
