SIZES
To fit Child’s sizes 2T (4T, 6). Directions are for smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses. If only one figure is given, it applies to all sizes.
KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
- Finished Chest: 25 (28, 30) in.
- Back Length: 12(14, 16) in.
MATERIALS
- 1 (2, 3), 50 gm/120 yd skeins of S. R. Kertzer Ltd. Lollipop in Green #700 (A)
- 1 (2, 2), 50 gm/120 yd skeins in Red #701 (B)
- 1, 50 gm/120 yd skein in Orange #705 (C)
- 1 (1, 2), 50 gm/120 yd skeins in Raspberry (D)
- Circular knitting needle 24 in. long in size 6 U.S. OR SIZE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- Stitch holders
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE
- 19 sts and 28 rows = 4 in. with S. R. Kertzer Ltd. LOLLIPOP in seed st.
*TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
NOTE
This garment is not knit in-the-rnd, however we recommend using a circular needle.
PATTERN STITCH
Seed Stitch:
- Row 1: (K 1, p 1) across.
- Row 2: As presented, k the purl sts and p the knit sts.
Rep Row 2 for seed st.
INSTRUCTIONS
BACK
With A, CO 60 (68, 74) sts. Work in seed st ribbing as foll:
Row 1: (K 1, p 1) across.
Row 2: (P 1, k 1) across. Rep Rows 1 & 2 for 5 (7, 7) rows. (Note: Unless stated otherwise, body of garment is worked in St st.) With RS facing, work bottom border as foll: With B, work 4 (4, 6) rows; with A, work 2 rows; with D, work 2 rows; with C, work 2 rows; with D, work 3 rows; with C, (k 1, p 1) across row; with C, work 2 rows St st; with A, work 5 (7, 7) rows; with B, work 5 (7, 7) rows; with C, (k 1, p 1) across row; with C, work 2 rows in St st; with A, work 1 row; with B, work 2 rows (last row of border). For remainder of Back, cont in St st with A until piece meas 12(14, 16) in. from beg, ending with a WSR.
Next row (RS): Work across 16 (18, 20) sts for first shoulder, BO 28 (32, 34) center sts, cont across 16 (18, 20) sts for second shoulder. BO shoulder sts or place them on holder for 3-ndl BO.
FRONT
With A, CO 60 (68, 74) sts. Work bottom border as for Back to completion of last row of B. With RS facing and D, work across 28 (31, 34) sts; with C, work next 4 (6, 6) sts; cont across row in B on rem 28 (31, 34) sts. Remaining in this color pat, work in St st until Front meas 11 (12 1/2, 14) in. from beg.
Shape neck/shoulder: Remaining in est color pat, on next row work across 20 (22, 24) sts; place center 20 (24, 26) sts on a holder; join another ball of yarn and cont across rem 20 (22, 24) sts. Working both shoulders at the same time in est color pat, dec 1 st at each neck edge EOR 4 times. Work even until Front meas 12 (14, 16) in. from beg. BO shoulder sts or place them on holder for 3-ndl BO. Join shoulder seams tog.
SLEEVES
(Note: Sleeves are knit from top down. They are not knit in-the-rnd.) Beg 4 1/2 (5, 5 1/2) in. down from shoulder seam, mark Back and Front distance before picking up Sleeve sts. With RS facing, using C, PU 42 (46, 52) sts evenly bet markers. Work as foll: *Work seed st for 3 (5, 5) rows in C; 2 rows in D; 2 rows in A; 5 (7, 7) rows in B; work St st for 6 rows in C; rep from * one time more, work seed st for 3 (3, 5) rows in C; 15(15, 17) rows in D: 3 rows in C; 2 (2, 4) rows in A. On next row, with A, dec 8 (10, 14) sts evenly spaced across row. Cont seed st in A until Sleeve meas 8 (10, 12) in. BO sts in seed st.
NECKBAND
With RS facing and C, beg at right shoulder, PU 69 (75, 81) sts around neck edge including sts on holder. Work in seed st for 3 (3, 5) rows. BO all sts in seed st.
FINISHING
Sew Sleeve and side seams tog. Sew edges of neckband opening tog.
BOBBLES
Make 3 (4, 4) bobbles as foll: With A, CO 5 sts. K 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1 and turn work. Rep for 4 rows. BO sts in seed st, leaving a 5 in. tail of yarn. Tie yarn tails tog tightly to form a ball. Attach to center Front as shown and tie off tightly on WS. Clip threads, leaving a short tail – do not weave in end. Using 6 strands of contrasting yarn, cut 3 (4, 4) segments approx 5 in. long. Tie yarn segments securely around bobble and trim ends to desired length.
